2020 marked the beginning of our Child and Youth Support Project, supporting students who used to live at Miti Mingi Village in Nakuru, Kenya, to safely and confidently settle back into life with their families.

To enable these families to thrive long term, we supported them with income-generating activities, including education and resources, to help boost their family income and create a sustainable and secure home environment.

One of the parents, Peninah, was educated on rearing chickens and growing farm maize, which she quickly became very successful at.

After receiving good profits from selling chicken and maize in her local community, Peninah had enough savings to purchase a cow — a big upgrade from her flock of chickens, which has significantly improved her family’s household income.

Today Peninah has a growing herd — three cows and one calf. She sells milk from the cows and can comfortably support her family.

“I am able to provide for my family now and even buy nice clothes for myself and the children”, Peninah told one of our team members during a recent visit to her home.
