Meet Get RARE — a business on a mission to end child poverty through education

In today’s world, the role of business extends far beyond profit margins and targets.

More than ever, companies are being called to step up and use their influence for good; improving their social footprint by supporting global development projects, uplifting communities, and becoming active players in building a better, fairer world.

This isn’t just a moral imperative, it’s also smart business. When brands align themselves with meaningful causes, they don’t just make a difference, they stand out. Purpose-driven businesses are proven to attract more loyal customers, inspire trust, and create deeper emotional connections with their audience.

Supporting global development projects doesn’t just change lives across the world (in our case Kenya and Tanzania), it also transforms the businesses that participate. It gives their teams a sense of pride, it fosters a culture of care, and it shows their customers that their business stands for something more.

At So They Can, we collaborate with businesses throughout Australia, New Zealand, the USA and UK to create long-lasting and meaningful change for children and their communities living in poverty.

Every partnership is different — some businesses choose to fund specific infrastructure and development projects that align to their business values and ESG commitments, while others drive payroll giving, take part in fundraising events like 1HumanRace, or help to cover overhead costs so that more of our donors’ dollars head directly to our projects in Africa.

One great example of a business that stands for more than just financial gain is Get RARE Properties in Sydney, Australia — currently supporting 25 students (plus part of a school) through So They Can’s sponsorship program.

We spoke to Founders, Rupali and Rasti, to learn more about what influences their passion for getting behind So They Can and making a difference through education… keep reading.

In conversation with Rupali and Rasti from Get RARE Properties

Get RARE Properties is without doubt one of our most unique and impactful business partnerships. Can you tell us a little bit about how and when you initially found out about So They Can?

We were introduced to So They Can in 2021 through Munzurul Khan, a trusted advisor and long-time advocate for business with purpose. Soon after, we met Cassandra Treadwell, So They Can’s CEO and Co-Founder, and everything clicked. Her clarity, conviction, and belief that educating a girl can lift an entire community resonated deeply with us.

At Get RARE, we help Australians build wealth; but ultimately, we’re in the business of futures. So when we saw how So They Can equips communities with the tools to break the cycle of poverty through education, it felt less like a choice, and more like a calling.

This isn’t a one-off donation. It’s a values-based partnership grounded in transparency, measurable outcomes, and long-term change, the same standards we apply to every investment we recommend.

You currently support over 25 students to stay in school and receive a quality education. What motivated you to start this growing sponsorship journey?

As our business grew, we realised that the true measure of success isn’t how much we gain; it’s how much good we can do with what we’ve built. But this hasn’t been our journey alone. Our clients and partners are the reason we’ve been able to turn financial progress into real-world impact.

So They Can inspired us because they don’t deal in short-term aid, they create generational change. Their education-first model is clear, transparent, and effective. It mirrors our own philosophy: invest long-term, create lasting value, and leave something better behind.

This is more than corporate giving. It’s a shared belief that business can be a force for good, and that wealth, when stewarded well, can change lives far beyond boardrooms and balance sheets.

We love how much you have embedded the power of giving back into your business. Tell us about the positive ripple effects you’ve noticed from being a purpose-led business?

The impact has been extraordinary not just for those receiving support, but for everyone involved. It’s changed how we see business: not as a series of transactions, but as a platform for transformation.

Within our team, it has fostered pride and unity. Among our clients, it’s sparked conversations about purpose. One client recently shared, “This isn’t just about property anymore. I feel like I’m part of something bigger.”

We’re transparent in how we share the impact, through newsletters, events, and 1:1 conversations. But more importantly, we treat it as a shared mission. Our clients’ trust enables this work, and their enthusiasm has created a ripple effect we never expected. It has made us better businesspeople, and more human ones, too.

Beyond the 9-5, in what ways has your relationship with So They Can benefited yours and your family’s personal wellbeing?

This journey has given our family a deeper sense of what really matters. As business owners, it’s easy to focus on performance and growth, but this partnership has shifted our conversations from success to significance.

One of the most humbling moments came when our children asked how our support helps girls their age go to school. It turned abstract giving into something tangible, a classroom, a future, a name. It changed not only how we give, but how we live.

Professionally, it’s transformed our culture. Clients and partners regularly tell us that being part of something meaningful gives their financial journey deeper purpose. That emotional return, unexpected but powerful, has been one of the most rewarding outcomes of all.

What would you say to other businesses that are keen to give back in some capacity?

Start now not when you have more time, more resources, or more scale. Start with heart, and build from there.

Giving isn’t a cost to your business. It’s a catalyst. It shapes culture, attracts the right people, and builds a brand with soul. We’ve seen firsthand how purpose attracts loyalty, trust, and meaningful partnerships.

Our work with So They Can has taught us that you don’t need to be perfect to make a difference; just intentional. When giving becomes part of who you are as a business, it shifts everything. You move from profit-driven to purpose-led, from success-focused to legacy-minded.

And if you bring your team and your clients along for the journey? That’s when your impact truly multiplies.
