We are so proud of our sports champions in Tanzania! This year 14 primary students from our partner schools were selected to compete as representatives of the Babati District at the national inter schools sports competition. The event brought together 3,630 primary school children from across Tanzania to compete in a range of sports including soccer, handball, netball, running and javelin. It’s an important opportunity to celebrate and encourage children’s sporting talents.

Our students’ participation is a remarkable achievement and reflects not only their individual excellence, but also the collective efforts of coaches, teachers, and supporters who have nurtured children’s promising talents. Gilgo (pictured below with fellow student Issa), a Grade 7 student from Manyara Primary School, was thrilled to win the silver medal in javelin.

Developing the socio-emotional skills of children is a key outcome of So They Can’s Education program. Our My Voice project nurtures the development of extra-curricular skills, like sports. We were proud to support all 25 children who represented the Babati District with t-shirts and also a celebratory day-trip to the nearby Tarangire National Park after the event. A great way to recognise everyone’s efforts and motivate children’s continuous engagement.
