On Thursday 25th September, So They Can hosted its launch event in the UK, marking an exciting new chapter for our international charity dedicated to ending poverty through education in East Africa.

Generously hosted by Simmons & Simmons at their London offices, the evening brought together more than 100 supporters, partners, and new friends united by a shared belief in the power of education to transform lives. Guests heard first-hand stories from So They Can’s projects in Kenya and Tanzania, and learned about the organisation’s mission to keep children — especially girls — learning amid the challenges of 2025’s global aid cuts.

A Shared Commitment to Girls’ Education

The UK launch also marked the beginning of an urgent fundraising drive to complete 2 essential infrastructure projects in Baringo, Kenya, which will enable 300+ girls to attend school with dignity and confidence:

• A girls’ changing room at Perkerra Primary School
• A girls’ toilet block at Nakoko Primary School

Thanks to the generosity of the new UK community, together with our global community on this year’s International Day of the Girl Child, we were able to raise enough to fully fund both of these important infrastructure projects. We really look forward to sharing the progress and impact of these projects with our UK community in the next few months.

Building Momentum in the UK

So They Can is proud to receive support from the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) — and now, our UK launch represents just the beginning of So They Can’s journey in England and Wales, creating new opportunities for individuals and organisations to make a real, tangible impact for more than 33,000 children (per year) who are supported through our Education Program, and 20,000 community members who are reached through our Community Development Program.
