Education lasts a lifetime, and so does your impact. Thank you for standing with a student and their school community.

Support a student
Education is a human right. Yet 273 million children around the world are missing out.
Stand with a student in Kenya and help their whole school community thrive.

Education is one of the most powerful ways to end poverty for good. But in the communities we work with, many schools are vastly under-resourced, classrooms are non existent or overcrowded, and far too many students drop out of school before they finish.
And the gap is growing. In low-income countries, the number of children out of school has risen by 29% since 2015 (UNESCO).
So They Can partners with 57 government schools, their communities and local governments in Kenya and Tanzania to change that.
So far we have empowered 55,000 children through education — and with your support we can reach so many more.

Growing up in Baringo is full of challenges, from harsh climatic conditions and limited infrastructure to low access to education and some of the highest illiteracy rates in East Africa.
Many children are put to work before finishing school. Girls face harmful traditional practices such as female genital cutting and early marriage.
A quality education in Baringo is rare. Primary school is free in Kenya, but schools can often only offer very basic education. Many people in the community have never had the chance to go to school. There is also a persistent shortage of teachers, which makes it difficult for them to support every student.
Your support means we can work with our partner schools to deliver projects that lift the standard of education.

School and classroom improvements

Strengthening child protection and child rights

For a monthly donation, you'll open the door to education for one student and their whole school community.
You'll be connected with one student and can follow their journey. Your contribution strengthens the whole school they learn in, so every child in the classroom benefits, not just one.
Twice a year, you'll exchange letters with your student, sharing news, stories and encouragement. Over time, these letters grow into a genuine connection that can last a lifetime.
Letters travel both ways. Twice a year, your student will write to you about their lessons, their friends and their dreams, and you'll get to share a little of your world too.
We'll keep you up to date with regular emails about our work across Kenya and Tanzania. You'll also be invited to our events, including livestreams from our partner schools and projects, where you can meet our teams, ask questions and see the progress for yourself.
You'll receive our Annual Report, with the highlights, results and stories from a year of work across Kenya and Tanzania, all made possible by supporters like you.
Watch this video to learn about our School Improvement project — one of the many project that is possible thanks to regular supporters like you.
