So They Can Partners with GTIA Foundation to Bring Technology to Rural Tanzanian Classrooms
Published 30th Sep, 2026
So They Can is proud to announce a new partnership with the Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA) Foundation, which has awarded funding to support our Bridging the Digital Divide with Connected Classrooms in Rural Tanzania project. The grant is part of GTIA’s broader 2026 charitable giving initiative, which was announced via a recent press release.
In rural Tanzania, digital access is almost nonexistent. Schools rarely have computers or internet connectivity, and teachers have little training in digital pedagogy. As a result, children grow up without exposure to the skills increasingly required in a technology-driven world, a gap that risks leaving rural communities permanently behind.
With GTIA Foundation’s support, So They Can will equip 25 government primary schools with foundational digital infrastructure: 10 desktops, 19 laptops, 15 projectors, and 10 photocopy machines. This investment gives teachers the basic tools they need to prepare lessons, deliver more engaging instruction, and introduce students to essential digital literacy skills.
Paired with teacher training and integration into So They Can’s broader Education Program, the project will directly benefit 262 teachers and 13,740 students across 25 partner primary schools in rural Tanzania ensuring these children are not excluded from the opportunities technology can create.

GTIA’s giving model is guided by its global membership, with grants supporting organisations that use technology to expand opportunity and address systemic barriers. So They Can’s project was selected as part of GTIA’s member-referred giving program, reflecting the trust and connections built between GTIA’s community and grassroots organisations doing this work on the ground.
We are deeply grateful to the GTIA Foundation and its members for recognising the urgency of digital inclusion in rural Tanzania and for investing in a future where every child has access to the digital tools they need to thrive.
