About These Projects
Giving women the skills and training so
they can transform their lives.
Women are the drivers and backbone of communities. Through education and training, we can transform the lives of thousands of women and their children living in poverty across East Africa.
We connect with women, so they can create income generating opportunities to provide life-essentials, including food, clothing, shelter and education, for their families, and build a more secure and sustainable future. It inspires the education of their own children, and in this way, we can empower and educate whole communities for generations to come.

Women’s Empowerment Project (Wezesha Business School)
Country : Kenya
Project Impact : To date over 550 women have completed our Women’s Empowerment Project (Wezesha Business School). More than AUD $100,000 worth of small loans have been issued changing the lives of many women, now able to build a better house, pay for their children’s school fees and save a little for their family's future.
Project Goal : Our goal is to empower 3600 women in Kenya by 2030 to live a more financially stable life and actively participate in the economy through access to employment, creation of businesses and financial inclusion. Through this goal these women will be able to provide for their families and contribute to their children’s education.
About The Project : Wezesha means ‘to enable’ in Swahili and our Wezesha Business Program is designed to provide life changing opportunities for women in need in East Africa.
We equip these amazing women with business skills and the microfinance they require to start up and run profitable small businesses and improve their standard of living so they can be the change in their own lives.
We believe that the microfinance model can enable women to break the poverty cycle while also creating employment opportunities for others in their communities.
Sew Women Can
Country : Kenya
Project Status : Sustained
Project Goal : As part of our Women's Empowerment Program, Sew Women Can's goal was to create a true social business that elevated women through education, skills creation and employment opportunities to improve their lives and those of their families.
An additional layer to the Sew Women Can project was bibi&me, a social impact brand that was established to showcase and build a marketplace for artisan products, handmade by more than 50 women working together in weaving cooperatives in rural Kenya.
Project Impact : In 2021, after 6 years of success, we handed over the reigns of our Sew Women Can project to the incredible women who we have trained, allowing them to run and grow the business independently moving forward.
Following our Sustainability Plan, the Sew Women Can team is now empowered with both the sewing skills and the business — this means they are able to continue to generate their own income, while also providing and creating new opportunities for their community.
Sew Women Can will always be close to our hearts, and we have every intention of continuing to be its best customer. The team at Sew Women Can now make our NIA Dignity Kits, as part of our Keeping Girls in School project, allowing girls to feel comfortable and confident to attend school while on their period.
