About These Projects Giving women the skills and training so
they can transform their communities.
Women are the drivers and backbone of communities. Through education and training, we can transform the lives of thousands of women and their children living in poverty across East Africa.
We connect with women, so they can create income generating opportunities to provide life-essentials, including food, clothing, shelter and education, for their families, and build a more secure and sustainable future. It inspires the education of their own children, and in this way, we can empower and educate whole communities for generations to come.
Wezesha Business Skills Program
Country : Kenya
Project Impact : To date over 550 women have completed our business skills course. More than AUD $100,000 worth of small loans have been issued changing the lives of many women, now able to build a better house, pay for their children’s school fees and save a little for their family's future.
Project Goal : Our goal is to empower 3600 women in Kenya by 2030 to live a more financially stable life and actively participate in the economy through access to employment, creation of businesses and financial inclusion. Through this goal these women will be able to provide for their families and contribute to their children’s education.
About The Project : Wezesha means ‘to enable’ in Swahili and our Wezesha Business Program is designed to provide life changing opportunities for women in need in East Africa.
We equip these amazing women with business skills and the micro-finance they require to start up and run profitable small businesses and improving their standard of living so they can be the change in their own lives.
We believe that the micro finance model can enable women to break the poverty cycle while also creating employment opportunities for others in their communities.
Sew Women Can
Country : Kenya
Project Impact : Sew Women Can has to date equipped 18 young single mothers with sewing skills through an intensive course and runs a workshop employing five of our trainees. A social impact brand, bibi & me, has been established showcasing and building a marketplace for artisan products handmade by more than 50 women working together in weaving cooperatives in rural Kenya.
Project Goal : To create a true social business empowering women through education, skills creation and employment opportunities to improve their lives and those of their families and create markets for women who are giving life to traditional artisan skills but have limited access to sales opportunities.
About The Project : This thriving workshop employs women, giving them life-changing skills and income in our beautiful workshop. They make uniforms for the students at Aberdare Ranges Primary School as well as unique hand-made crafts and jewellery that are available for sale world-wide.
All the women we employ or purchase from are well paid and they inject the true colour, vibrancy and zest for life that is so unique to African women into their work. 100% of the profits from bibi & me are used to support these women and our educational programs in East Africa.
